Decide the Future!

I added a poll to let the loyal readers to have a say in where Opti and Pessi go next. Kind like a Choose Your Own Adventure Story, without the choosing the adventure... Here is a hint, they are going to find themselves in another land, and you get to help pick that land!

Hammer & Scribble

Something a few loyal readers may have noticed is the apparent apartment change. Well, this wasn't entirely on purpose. The apartment seen in the Holiday Special was a quick pick with no real panning involved, it worked for the time needed. The apartment seen in Episodes 4+ was one I discover on garrysmod.org. While that again, served it's ends. It's time now for Opti and Pessi to find a true home of their own. Enter Source SDK.

While I have dabbled in map making before, I've never really created anything that I truly enjoyed. And with the help from some tutorial videos on YouTube. I have begun working on a brand new home for our beloved Opti and Pessi. But, to be honest, it ain't that great.

Help? Anyone? If there is anybody that has some experience with Hammer and/or knows somebody that does, and is willing to do up a apartment map for a very anal client, drop me a line at korerat@comcast.net, or find me on steam at the same. Or, if you just have some tips or know of places to get some. I'm going to make sure that this will become the first map that I complete and actually like.

A few other tid-bits about the apartment:
-The reason the apartment is being changed may have something to do with a hard drive format and no longer being able to find the old copy of the map on garrysmod.org
-The current Series may have been brought into play sooner than planned, due to the possible loss of the apartment map.
-The apartment map has/had a lobby and four apartments(all with the same floor plan), and was a bit of a shabby throw together with missing walls/textures in various places.



Also, the series involving Master Chief from Halo has been canceled. Due to my disinterest(also known as hatred) with the Halo series. If I anger and Halo kids out there, deal with it.

O' Brother, Where Art Thou?

Cool news: My brother is now en-route to Japan for a three week vacation. Yes he speaks very good japanese and yes he does bring home co0l things. ^^

Bad News: I spent all weekend helping him get ready and just now had to get up at 2:30 in the morning to take him to the airport. After everything dragged along, it was 5:30 before I got back. So now I'm wide awake but need to attempt to get a little sleep before work.

Worse News: Because of the whole trip thing, Opti-Pessi will not update on mon. However, it will update on thurs as normally.

Episode Twenty

Korea Huh?

This explains alot about our friendship...including how KoreRat (a.k.a. Korea a.k.a KoreaRat apparently...) has promised me brownies for doing this comic, but I have yet to see anything of the sort. However, I did a search for him in 'The Database' using the new name 'KoreaRat' as the search parameters and came up with this starling image:

So I was playing some TF2 earlier today. That in its self is not really news, I tend to play TF2 everyday. And it was a rare time when I found myself on a server other than VaTF2. But on some server called goovod, goovio, voogod, voogio, or whatever it was. It wasn't a bad server, but I noticed a major lack of teamwork going with the BLU team. While there was plenty of it going around for RED. Can you guess what team I was on? Yea,....BLU.

But other than my normal skill, somewhere around a lucky crit whore, I fared a few stupid moments but more so good skill based runs. I had a teammate say to me "KoreRat, you fail!". Confused, yes. Apparently there was an enemy behind me shooting me while I was attacking the enemies in front of me. For not noticing, I fail... Umm? wtf? I'm....completely confused by this... But at least he said Kore Rat and not Korea, I tend to get that a lot. It's KORE SPACE RAT people!!

Also, I've been profiled. No, not in the good way. By one of the worst directors in Hollywood. I'll assume you know of Uwe Boll, if not Google it(even though I'm anti Google). But Mr. Boll said, and I quote:

“You go for it, to please the game fans, but on the other hand if you have the hard core gamers, they live in their own world. And you cannot fulfill their ideas from a video game based movie, it’s impossible, and to be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don’t pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys? I need the normal audience.”

Mr. Boll, you need ANY audience... I saw one of his flicks, and well that was enough. If nothing else he has a great track record of turning out wretched adaptions of good video games. I stand to say for all of us hardcore gamers, that even though we may aquire a movie by means that involve no currency transactions, we would never waste our bandwidth on anything touched by Uwe Boll.

But the best thing, is this. When he asked Blizzard if he could buy the rights to a WoW movie, they responded with "We will not sell the movie rights, not to you…especially not to you." Greatness!

Finally, I'm changing my Steam name to 'It's KORE(space)RAT people!'

Episode Ninteen

404 LINK DEAD

So McNaire and I have been working on the new site and stuff. He's got a bunch of ideas he's trying out, to see if I give them the 'ol "Okay!". $20 says I will. He's just that damn good.

Speaking of... How many of you noticed the Nod insignia he placed on the Pyro's arm in Episode 14? I missed it completely until he pointed it out later, and I'm supposed to give them one last QA before they post. That boy is good.

But here is a little sneak peek of the current setup, striped of course. Really just a layout with the basic gist. Keep in mind this was taken by me, on my 1440x900 resolution monitor. It will be designed for 1024x768, so anybody using large(like myself) may not get the best look, but we can deal.

As you can see, we got a working dropdown menu for quick Episode selection, Prev/Next links for easy reading, and it will keep the most recent comic at the top of the page, while news and other posts will fall in line below it. No more having to search through all my rambled posts to find the latest comic.

My Fan-Base, It Hurts...

So McNaire and I were discussing the current Opti-Pessi Fan-Base. Or, well...

McNaire: And you need to keep up the PR work.
KoreRat: Brb\
McNaire: We need fans!
McNaire: There's gotta be something we're missing to pull more people in.
McNaire: It's not like our comic is bad.
McNaire: There much, much worse out there with huge fan bases. :
McNaire is now Offline.

Do we have fans? I assume so, we average four hits a day, that's gotta mean something. Right? Unless that's just the lonely miscreants who stumble upon the site only to leave shortly after realizing it's not porn.

I'm liking this layout better than the previous, so it might hang around a bit. I believe McNaire is working on something, an entire webpage devoted to O/P, or something like that.

The new Title Bar, is coming along, but as McNaire put it...

McNaire: So you want your new title bar huh?
McNaire: Do you want a good one or a slap-crap job?
KoreRat: Well, I thought it was gonna premier with this episode..
McNaire: We can hardly complain about deadlines. :p

So TF2 is over. At least the series is, TF2 remains, with all its glory! But we are getting back into the swing of things. Ofcouse now I can't spend endless hours playing TF2, and call it research. :{

This Bi-Weekly thing might kill me, but I'll roll with it until it becomes too much, if that bothers to happen. We are currently shooting for Mondays and Fridays. But seeing as we haven't hit a release date in a week or so, who knows...

Also I would like to thank all the great guys(and gals) over at Virginia TF2. If you don't know, Virginia TF2 is the BEST server to play some TF2 on. They got a server that run 24/7 2Fort. I highly reccomend you check them out, and for only five bucks you can get a reseved slot and play whenever you want to! By the way, I'm not affiliated with Virginia TF2 in any way, I just love their server.

Episode Fourteen

A record high for Opti-Pessi!

Today, well, yesterday now, Opti-Pessi saw a record high in visitors! With 65 Unique Visitors and 6 Returning Visitors. The previous best was with the release of Holiday Special Two, which saw 50 Unique Visitors and 6 Returning Visitors. Both days saw 90 Page Loads. Stick with us as we work our way to 1000 hits and lets blow 65 Unique Visitors out of the water!

I'd like to thank all the fans and their continued support, it is what keeps this comic running. I always have an ear open for comments, complaints, or just random babble.

Well, first off McNaire will be posting the new Episode soon.

We will not be doing any kind of April Fools Joke, it just kinda blew past me what with working close to 70 hours a week, spending time with my little one, and trying to finish these comics on time.

I hope you all are enjoying the Team Fortress 2 series. I would like to do more with TF2, but I don't want to dig that hole too deep.

And to all the fans of Opti, he will return in Episode 15.
